To provide a more effective learning environment for your child, I will be implementing the following classroom discipline plan for the 2008-2009 school year.

I do not anticipate many discipline problems, however, I will need your cooperation and support if any problems do arise.  If a student is disruptive, does not participate in classroom activities, or does not complete homework on time he/she will be asked to fill out a Conduct Card, which asks about his/her actions and why it was inappropriate.  This card will be kept on file.  The third time the card is filled out it will be sent home for a parent/guardian signature.  I am confident that there will not be much need for this action.

CLASSROOM RULES

1.     Follow directions first time they are given.

2.     Raise your hand and wait to be called on.

3.     When the speaker is talking, you should be listening.

4.     Respect your classmates.

5.     Do work quietly, without disturbing others.

CONSEQUENCES

1.     Warning

2.     Written assignment (Conduct Card)

3.     Note sent home

4.     Call to parent

5.     Sent to Principal

*Severe misbehavior will be sent directly to Principal’s office.

REWARDS

          Each student has received a reward card.  A student may earn a hole punch for good behavior, good work on specific assignments, using good manners, etc.  Once he/she has received designated amount of punches, that student will receive a reward.

1.     No Homework Pass (only for specified assignments)

2.     Free time

3.     Sit by a friend

4.     Extra computer time

5.      To be voted on by the class
