Math - The students will be continuing
to review simple addition and subtraction, while being introduced to carrying and borrowing at least into the thousands.
They will explore time, geometry, measurement, money, and the foundation of multiplication.
Language Arts- The students will focus on a reading in four areas:
Phonics, Spelling, Literacy, and Grammar. Students will utilize different methods in process writing and build their
confidence in oral reading through experience with both classroom and school audience.
Science and Social Studies - Students will learn about the world around
them through reading and real life experiences, such as speakers, experiments, and a variety of hands-on experiences.
Religion - Second grade is an important
year for our students in school. We prepare for two sacraments, Penance and First Communion as well as continue to build
upon out Catholic faith.
Handwriting
- Students will review manuscript throughout the year as necessary and begin cursive writing in the month of December.
Spanish - We continue exploring
the Spanish language and it's culture by the use of videos, music, and worksheets.
Gym - Students learn about healthy lifestyles and participate in physical exercise
two times a week.
Music - Students
learn about the musical world around them as well as sing. They perform on two all school programs, a famous American
assembly, and attend enrichment assemblies throughout the year.
Computers - Students engage in several areas of computer work, including keyboarding, internet
searching, using word processing, and recognizing the components of a computer system and it's functions.
