CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK – “Dividends for Life” is this year’s motto.  Come celebrate with us as we give thanks for the opportunities our Catholic Schools provide.  Please see the agenda in today’s folder!  Please join us on Wednesday evening from 6-9 at the Robinson Barnes & Noble.  Our student’s work will be displayed and many activities will be provided.  The schedule is as follows:

                6:15 – 7:00 – Music          7:00 – 7:30 – Mrs. Catanzarite and Storytelling                  

                7:30 – 8:00 – Arts and Crafts and Face Painting                   8:00 – 8:30 – Forensic presentations

                8:30 – 9:00 – Science Project Presentations

Book orders for the guest authors coming to our school can be found in today’s folder as well.

 

STUDENT COUNCIL NEWS

v  There will be a dance for the 7th & 8th graders on Friday, February 12. 2010 in Kohler Hall from 7:00 to 10:00 pm.  Cost is $5 per person with permission slip.  Chaperones are needed from both 7th & 8th grade parents.  Mrs. Catanzarite is the teacher chaperone.

v  Lollipops for Haitian Relief will be on sale starting Thursday, January 28th.  Cost is $0.50 each.  All money will go to Catholic Relief Services for the earthquake victims in Haiti.

v  Congratulations to the new classroom representatives for the second semester: 4th grade: Brandon Rivetti & Mariah Fernandez; 5th grade : Anthony Bonavita & Eli Loncar; 6th grade: Nikki Simons & Courtney Cyrilla; 7th grade: Amanda Ficarri & Ashley Zanella; 8th grade: Mary Rose Furka & Lauren Zawatski

 

GEOGRAPHY BEE WINNERS – Congratualtions to our school winner Richard Cercone, 7th grade, and runner-up, Jonathan Liberatore, 8th grade.  Richard will take the written test for the state competition.

 

DRESS CODE REMINDERS – Sweatshirts are not to be worn during the school day on Mondays, Wednesdays, or Fridays.  Fatima sweatshirts (or plain) may be worn on Tuesdays and Thursdays for gym.  Eighth graders may wear their “Class of 2010” sweatshirts anytime.  Boots are not to be worn during the school day, especially if the pants are tucked into them.  If they are dress boots, and the pants are over top of them, it is permissible. Please bring shoes and change into them.  Girls are reminded that layers of clothing are not to be hanging below their school shirt.  Finally, please adhere to “no designer label clothing” even on gym days. 

 

AMBRIDGE BUS RULES – Only those students who reside in the Ambridge School District are permitted to ride the Ambridge bus.  No student will be permitted to ride home with a friend from another district as of today.

 

FABULOUS FRIDAY RAFFLE – Last Friday’s $100 winner was Mrs. Liberatore.  Ticket number was 815.  Let us know if you are interested in buying any!  Remember, next Friday, February 5th, is $1000!!!

 

 

200 CLUB MEETING – All are welcome to come to the 200 Club Dinner, Dance, & Raffle meeting on Wednesday, February, 10th, at 6:30 pm in the school library.

 

SNOW MAKE-UP DAY – Our snow make-up day will be Monday, February 15th.  We originally had it off for Presidents’ Day. 

 

ATHLETIC BANQUET CHANGE – Our banquet date and venue have been changed from April 10th at the Monaca Turners to April 24th at the Moon Township Holiday Inn.

 

NECESSITY ITEMS COLLECTION – Alumna, Olivia Bonavita, is a senior at Hopewell High School.  As part of her senior project, she is working with the Christian House Church in Raccoon.  She is asking that the children bring in any items including but not limited to: toothbrushes, tooth paste, dish or body soap, shampoo, conditioner, blankets, tissues, toilet paper, laundry and cleaning products.  She volunteers the first Saturday of the month handing out food and clothing to those who are needy.  In addition, she would like to  give bags of these essentials collected from our school.  Please be as generous as possible.

 

CAFETERIA VOLUNTEERS – Thank you to Mrs. Rykaceski , Mrs. Mille Mrs. Srafin, and Mrs. Zabrucky for their help this past week.  Next week’s volunteers are:
